Oakington Avenue, Little Chalfont

Having refurbished their house in a contemporary style, the clients wanted a garden to match, where they could entertain and their children could play.

A slate terrace matches the interior flooring and runs along the back and side of the house. This makes the garden feel like an extension of the house itself and makes the outside space appear larger. It provides ample space for entertaining and is separated from the large lawn (children’s football pitch) by a low wall with slate coping. The lawn is surrounded by sturdy, low maintenance plants and numerous climbing plants have been planted along the new fencing to soften the boundary.

A wooden pergola extending from the kitchen reduces the impact of the neighbour’s imposing brick wall from the main living area. Several trees have been planted to provide a screen.
